Hi,

The other night after a few cold mornings I decided to try to get the FBH working. I did the fuse #5 thing and the FBH fired up... well when I say fired up I mean it started to whine and the exhaust started blowing out cold air.
This morning it is -1 here so I thought it would be a good test. Started the car and the FBH exhaust started blowing out cold air... thing is the cold air never became warm and it seemed to cut out after 5 mins.
The FBH is meant to start producing a little heat from the exhaust and is meant to stay on for more than 5 mins, right?
Would it be worth me testing the thermostat with a paper clip (if i can get the bumper off)? also is there a pump somewhere to pump fuel... and if that pump is working would i be able to hear it somewhere?

Thanks

If you can hear the pump ticking and the thing is trying to fire up - it may just be a bit dirty inside - especially if it hasn't been in use since last winter.

Before you start pulling it apart to find the fault I would recommend that you fill up with non-supermarket diesel (Morrison's is the worst for soot and smoke) and add a bottle of injector cleaner.

Might well do the trick. It did on mine as it was shutting down due to a mis-fire. After I put in the injector cleaner it still took 3 or 4 goes before it successfully fired up and stayed lit.

Fantastic crazy banshee sound when it does get going.

Good luck.

ha, just filled up tonight with sainsburys stuff. The thing hasnt been going since i got the car almost 3 years ago. Shall put some redex in the fuel tank and see if she starts wailing like a banshee.
