Fault finding test logging - TD5 odd power issues - fuel logs inside

Hi all

No fault codes thrown but as previously discussed my defender td5 is not running right. It intermittently loses power. Could anybody shed any light on my CSV printouts and see if anything stands out to them please?

As promised - it felt restricted on revs at top end - didn't want to go near 3k at times and felt like it was running out of puff sometimes too. Would really appreciate it if you have the viewer and could take a look!!

If not I can break down into pictures...

Yes mate - probably 2-3 weeks ago and it ran like a dream. Flew. Was chuffed!
In February I fitted a Bosch fpr. I also serviced it last week. The only error I’ve had is driver demand and I think that’s where I unplugged it.
I did put an allmakes cps in which could be the culprit but no codes being thrown.
I will change this to the inter motor one in the cubby as was advised these allmakes ones sometimes fail after a couple hundred miles.
What would be great is if someone could check my charts - only wizard I know of on here is @sierrafery.
@sierrafery - if I put the maps into screen dumps would you mind having a look please? Sorry to be cheeky just know from previous threads your very clued up on this front...

Allmakes only sell their premium range (PR2) crank sensors, you shouldn't have a problem there. We have never had any returns on any PR2 items. Do you get any black smoke or anything? I have seen the intake pipe between the MAF and the turbo collapse under load causing similar problems to yours

thanks for your input Tom - all this adds to my knowledge and I knew nothing of diesels until I got into slow muddy cars!
That is one suggested cause yes and I’ll be ordering silicon ones. I read, these hoses delaminate on the inside, causing it to almost buckle and strangle flow.
So the plan is to fit new ones and also replace wastegate boost pipe with 4mm fuel hose. On that note, I did check wastegate and it’s operating freely.
The other work I wanted to do was hard wire the tps in as when I drove in puddles earlier in the year it tripped out the day after with no throttle and mil light on

if you get a silicone hose get 5 ply or more, the one we had in that was collapsing was an expensive hose but only quite thin. Same symptoms.

what do you mean by hardwiring the throttle?

Cheers. Running a cable directly from pedal to ecu. It’s funny as it came up few weeks ago then saw earlier someone had bumped a thread I was using as a guide as they’re doing the same.

Took a look at your data. The only obvious issue is the air flow data, or lack of rather, indicating the MAF sensor is either disconnected or completely done. The engine will run without a MAF but performance will be impaired. Depending on the engine management version in use (EU2/EU3), engine hesitation may occur when the code is hunting for air mass data then having to revert to speed density air charge calculations. Boost looks good; coolant, fuel and charge air temps all in range; no issues with TPS voltage feed or output/s. Pressure loss across inlet tract is within reason (ambient at idle - ambient at WOT < 4 kPa).

As suggested, low fuel pressure is always a potential cause for Td5 sluggishness so worth checking.
 
Gents, thank you very much for taking the time to check those - really appreciate it. I will get a new maf ordered but to be fair can actually test the existing one properly now I have nano.
It’s eu3 I believe (53 plate with double egr modulators).
Boost actually feels down on what it was but that could well be in my head. I’m not particularly hunting power - just want it healthy and as reliable as possible.

Maf plugged back in (was unplugged to rule out pre nanocom during injector harness missing issues), idle is far smoother and it feels like it’s got the sense of urgency back that it had before.
Feel like a donut as didn’t realize running at defaults on maf would cause such a hiccup. Thanks again - still plan to do the throttle wiring just to get rid of that driver demand risk when season starts again and it’s in the mud n rain.
