Disco 2 Fault Codes (?)

Hello,

Just plugged the new Britpart Lynx Evo into the D2, and it came up with the following fault codes under the Engine section:
  • Air flow circuit fault. Logged Low
  • Inlet Air Temp circuit Fault. Logged High
  • Road speed missing fault. Logged
  • Can error fault. Currently Active
Under the ABS section:
  • Front Left sensor signal erratic
  • Exhaust valve power amplifier open circuit.
The Discovery does have the "Three Amigos".

Can anyone tell me what this all means?

Assuming it works the same as the nanocom.

First thing I would recommend is making a list of all the faults,

Clearing the faults and then driving the car and see what comes back, you do not need to be chasing historic faults.

OK, I've cleared the fault codes, and taken it for a drive.

The following engine faults have returned after the test drive:
  • Air flow circuit fault. Logged low
  • Can error fault. Currently active
We also put the ABS to work, and the 3 Amigos haven't returned yet. Makes sense since it said the signal was erratic. Hoping it stays the way it presently is! :)

However, the ACE light is now on (amber). Bad news is that when I try to log into the ACE module, the Lynx Evo says there's a problem communicating with that module. Now it's not connecting with some of the other modules, either.

Note for anyone looking for a diagnostic tool: Now probably isn't the time to get the Lynx Evo – learned the hard way. According to Britpart support, there's currently no user manual for the Lynx Evo, so I'm fumbling around trying to use a somewhat clunky phone app. Things may improve, but they really shouldn't be selling the product before they put together a manual. Because it's such a new product, there are few other people out there who have any experience with it. It might be going back to Britpart.​

I looked into the Lynx & decided to go for a nanocom,
One for sale here maybe the seller has some experience with it ;)

You need new MAF sensor, for the CAN fault start by checking connections in the attached connector C0162 pins 5 - 6 white and yellow wires

@kevstar The Lynx Evo seems to be different to the "proper old" pc-based lynx. Pity if that's also not so good. I'm not sure where Britpart sourced the Lynx Evo software – Atlantic British in the U.S. is selling the same unit as the "iLand." Anyway, neither the iOS or Android apps seem to work very well – and not having any sort of user manual is a really bad start. If the app and dongle actually connect (a rare treat), I haven't a clue what the various options mean or will do to the vehicle – the terminology used on the app differs from that used on the adverts, and differs again from that used on the pc-based lynx.

Anyway... does anyone on here have any experience with the new Hawkeye Total?

I have the classic hawkeye and i doubt that the total has less features for the D2 which means it will do everything you need except used key programming based on the short code
 
So currently which is the best one to have?? I’d like to add keys and be able to read live data and turn things on/off if I ever feel the need to...
 
I believe the Hawkeye total reads fault codes on all land rovers but does not do any programming. But I maybe wrong!
 
@sierrafery , You say "used keys." Would it program new generic key fobs of eBay?

Actually, I've almost given up on key fobs anyway. Quite happy to turn a key in the door, if I can either set the immobiliser to disarm when I turn the key in the door, or if I can give the immobiliser a complete retirement – it's a tired system!

I might give Bearmach a call, and ask for specifics – and check they have a user manual, after the Lynx Evo experience!
 
For anyone following this thread now or in the future, Bearmach support says that the Hawkeye Total is unlocked to all Land Rovers, but won't read fault codes on other manufacturers' vehicles. He thought it could edit the immobiliser settings, but he didn't know. I doubt it has less features than previous Hawkeyes, though.

IMO you are better off with a Nanocom Evo, although a Hawkeye is better for diagnosing issues with the ACE system I believe, but for live data, reading and saving, changing settings, turning things on and off, a Nano will do all this, and importantly give you fault details.

As for programming keys a Nano will do this, as long as you have the code from inside the key fob to match the key.

Just part of my signature Brian.......same as on another more dedicated Discovery 2 forum, where many have discovered that they are the only ones that don't leak, as all the others, genuine LR, ***part, Bearmach etc are all it seems the wrong size.

At least when yours leak you know where to come now.....................Oops, Hard lines.....!! :):)

I've heard that Nanocoms aren't as reliable as Hawkeyes or the old Lynx's when it comes to reading fault codes. I accept that the Nanocom may be tops for programming, but I'm not generally out for fancy programming (apart from key and immobiliser programming, which I gather the Hawkeye can do within limits). Also, don't you have to get expensive unlock codes if you wish to work on more than one Land Rover with the Nanocom?

As a side note, @Hellastony, I've done some Search Engine Optimisation work in the past, and just thought I should warn you that repeated links to a website from a forum (such as from your signature) will sink your website with Google. Unless you do "Black Hat" SEO – which is not generally recommended, unless you've got the time to outsmart Google's spiders!

The Nanocom is unlocked for vehicle type, NOT VIN. So yes, you do need unlock codes for the Nanocom for other LR vehicle types, a Nanocom unlocked for a Disco 2 will work on all Disco 2 types.
TBH, I've never encountered a problem (other than finger trouble) with my Nanocom Evolution.
When I bought mine, about five years ago there were notable differences between the Nanocom and the Hawkeye. Recently, it seems that Hawkeye and Lynx have done some catching up.

I can understand you using it as your "signature" on other websites, but this isn't just "other websites", it's LandyZone, and as such, there are forum rules about placing for sale adverts on any post and we do have a "For Sale" board on the forum especially so that members can sell their wares.
 
all i can say boys about that seal thing is that i hope nobody from the contestors from landyzone will need them.... cos AFAIK unfortunately only
@Hellastony has the right ones,.... not just in UK, in the whole Europe
