I am using my Freelander 1 to commute.
2.0 DI
The engine light comes on and you loose a little power.
If you take the accelerator pedal of and re apply it goes of for a while.
The fault code reading is 144 Injector Begin Control.

What does this meen.

Thankyou in advance.:D

I have read this on the issue and am of to investigate.

:welcome:

sorted it! wahoo! had a word with the local freelander specialist! had to resolder the connections into the big round connector that the wires from the back of the pump come from! they get brittle over time apparentely, and is very common when somebody has been working in that area! thanks for everybodies input!

The other thing i noticed was a hook like vacume pipe coming from the back of the engine.
It comes up to behind were my egr used to be.
The egr has been removed.
What should i do with this as its not blanked of like the egr vacumme pipe.

ok I started soldering the wires on the big round connector.
The first wire pulled out from down the engine .
I soldered a new piece in and hoped it was fixed.
It wasn't unfortunately.
I am still on with this.
Thing is the big round connector looks great.
I wd40 it and have left it for tonight.

The thing overheated today.
What is happening.
Can anyeone help please.
I am travelling from preston to huddersfield daily and have the kids to take to wales and scarborough next week.
i filled it full of water asnd its held.
I had the air con on for the first time and this could of drained the water?

that's likely to be the breather pipe for the ird
don't block it off
am only going by the fact that the td4 has a 'hooked pipe' at rear of engine
and that be the ird breather
am assuming they used the same type/shape breather pipe on the L-series diesel
( sorry can't help with other issues as i've a td4 and don't know b'all about the L-series )

dnt come to my neck of the woods we got ****e weather all next week

Well the front oil cooler pipe blew and had a 4 inch split.
I ordered a new part from Huddersfield landrover .
Its coming today.
I drove it back to preston with 3 water stops.
When I get the pipe back this afternoon we will find out if its the head blowing the pipes.
It was running red hot for 20 mile at a time but never stopped.
So its new head gasket I think ,I ordered a new thermostate and will get that noisey cam fixed.
Hopefully my mechanic who says hes done thousands of heads can do this,

Its the head gasket.
I am having it fixed but the garage is on his hols for a week or 2.
Hire car city for now.
