Hi Guys, just a quick one about my TD5, I have noticed this past few mornings it has been colder. On starting my Disco it sits and ticks over just under 1000 rpm. Once it warms up it drops back down to the usual 750 ish rpm. Was wondering if there is a sort of cold start system on the truck which makes this happen in colder weather or is something about to go wrong. Nothing else seems to be wrong. Incase it makes any difference it's an 03 truck and its auto as well..........

Perfectly normal, the ECU is keeping the revs up to warm it quicker, help get bang in the 5th NON glow plug cylinder and to reduce crankshaft bearing wear (a cold lumpy diesel knocks lumps out of bearings).

It ain't a truck, these guys make trucks Scania (Great Britain) Limited - scania.co.uk
