Hi.
Well summer is here I'm getting ready to sell my L322 and on queue the fan has gone on the blink for the dashboard vents on my L322 (02 plate).

In short, everything appears to workd, except the fan blowing the air through. The lights come on, the auto speed/strength lights come on and change depending on how hard it thinks it needs to work. I can feel a hint of hot or cold air accordingly comeing through the vents but the fan stays silent... apart from about every 5 mins you can hear it start to blow for about 1-2 seconds and then it stops again...

Any advice?

You need to replace the regulator assembly - which is universally referred to as the 'final stage resistor'. Part number is JGO00021 and it costs around £45.

The biggest difficulty is contorting yourself to be able to reach the damn thing. I’m a big chap (6’ 4” & 20 stone) and found it hard work. It’s one of those jobs that takes an hour to do the first time and then 10 minutes the second time, if you know what I mean. There’s a couple of write-ups here on the procedure :

No suprise that it's actually a BMW part so it might be cheaper to buy from a BMW parts department?

The design changed several times - obviously a problematic component - so if you buy direct from a dealer you should at least get the latest one...
