L322 Climate control fan problem

Hi all,

Unusual for me to need help with the L322 - not because I know how they work but just because it so rarely goes wrong. However, started it yesterday and tried to demist the windscreen - but no fan. The fan control dial lights up as it should, but the fan does not come on. I checked the front seat climate control, heated seats and cooling - no response and the seat control knobs do not illuminate as they should. I thought this might indicate a blown fuse - but I can find no fuse for the fan and there is nothing wrong with the fuse for the seat climate control. Any ideas what and where I should look for the solution?

What fuses have you checked. theres 1 in the rear fuse box and 1 in the enginebay box.
The blower control module (^^^hedgehog) sits in the RH blower duct and is voltage control from 2-8v.
Still cant up load files:(.

Thanks @marjon - I checked the fuse listing in the drivers manual. Interior fuses seem to be behind the glove compartment. However I could not find one listed that controls the fan. I checked the fuse 29 which is listed for the drivers seat climate control and that was fine. Passenger and drivers seat climate controls are not working - no lights and no activity. However, there are individual fuses for each seat. So i’m looking for a fault that will take out the front blower and both seat climate controls. Rear blower is fine. The drivers manual helpfully lists the engine compartment fuse box as being something that should only be accessed by a qualified technician! So that’ll be where my problem lies I bet. However, checking the list again there is a fuse 62 that controls the climate change ECU - so i’ll check that now, but the climate controls all light up unlike the seat climate controls but still don’t achieve anything. I’ll let you know how I get on.
 
The fuse for the heater blower is in the rear box;). the engine compartment fuse box apparently needs a technician:rolleyes:. but there's 2 in the 1, So it maybe in the second lid.

I haven't looked at the seats circuit yet as its such a pain to post help:(. I will have a look.

I would imagine they are somewhat connected within the "brain box" but maybe wont work if the main fan is not working.

Scrub that - checked fuses in glove compartment and in engine bay, no sign of any problems in the likely looking candidates.

Also - seat climate controls working fine - heating ok and surprisingly, are blowing air when put on the cooling setting - so it is pointing to the blower or a bigger climate control problem. This is starting to look like it might be expensive....

I'm looking into this hedgehog thing now.

Oh I see. Thanks. I looked at the diagram but failed to understand it. However, now you say it I can see what you mean.
Typically, it’s ****ing down at the moment. As soon as it eases off I’ll be out to check the rear fuse box.

The fuse + relay is for the rear.
I thought the front was a different fuse in the rear. Let me look again in the morning.
Did you look at the number of the fuse on the dia against the 1 you checked?

Does the 2011 still use a Hedgehog? Thought they would have got rid of it by now considering it is a constant fail item!

EDIT: From what I can gather it does - how stupid! although some parts listings only say up to 2009 and other say up to 2012...go figure!

Afraid so, in fact they use 2, 1 for the front and 1 for the back. That’s if we are referring to the item in 1 of my posts ^^^ a few back.

Ok just looked.
Fuse 14, 15amp is for the rear system
Fuse 21, 40amp is for the front.

I guess if this all checks out its time to get to the connector at the module.
Do you have diagnostic's?

Hi J. It was Fuse 21, the 40A that I checked and it was fine. I have not got any diagnostics for the L322. What is the hedgehog? Is it 19A874 in the diagram above?
