Faded plastic light surrounds and grill

I know most here aren't fussed about "clean" but I remember a thread a while ago where somebody sprayed their light surrounds and grill.

I recently bought a product for my other cars plastic but thought i'd try it out on the landy first.

Its called C4 by GTechniq and is super expensive for a tiny amount but it goes a long way.

I tried it on the front plastics on the landy and it transformed it! It seriously looks like new. They went from whitey/grey to black. The rest of the landy still lookes 13 yrs old but at least the plastics look good!

I use WD40. Rub it on with a rag and like magic the plastics turn black or back to their original colour. Lasts about two years before needs doing again. Cheaper than specialist products.

Me too Shifty and if I aint got any WD then I use any oil I've got lying around..

if yer daring and wanna get them back to black permanently i just waft the blowlamp over them gently heating them and it realigns the surface molecules back to their original state

I use nikwax. It's for leather walking boots but shines up plastic a treat. One coat usually last about 4 weeks just rub in a small amount with a cloth.

Ditto, but I have a hot air blower (Like a hairdryer for the gaylanders) me dad used to use to shrink wing fabric on model planes! Permanent fix, or as permanent as plastic is in UV light ..

+1 for the heat gun it releases the volitiles in the plaggy back to the surface.




It dunt work on some plastics though and definately not on hair(no matter which Land Rover you drive)

Thats alright cos I dont got any hair.

Just done ours today with "back to black bumper trim". (found some in a tub at work) did the grill, wheel arches and all the window rubbers. Came up a treat.

I need to find some T-cut next and give the 23 year old paint work a rub over.
