Hallo, numpty question coming up.
The headlight surrounds, ie the plastic panel bit, that have the 4 grooves inbetween the side and indicator light, do they fit a 97 defender 300 tdi, or are they only for TDs. I'm looking for a plain pair in gloss black, getting a decent priced plain pair is a nightmare, 97 pounds on JGS! Each! Seems overpriced for a bit of pressed plastic, but perhaps there's something about them I don't know.
So I might have to get a grooved pair, if they fit.
And while I'm here, my old pair just have circular holes for the side lights, they don't have the extra cut-outs.
Thank you.
Just today removed the old rear mudflap brackets, oh that was fun! Why not just have captive nuts?!

You can just polish up the old surrounds with black trim wax, which is only a few quid a bottle.

The mudflaps are held on with bolts that go into rivnuts, threaded inserts in the chassis.
So you can just cut the heads off the bolts, and bash the remains of the bolt, and the insert, into the chassis, and insert new rivnuts.
Basic tool with some rivnuts available for 20 quid and upwards off the net. The cheap ones are adequate for occasional use.

Thank you for your replies. I didn't want to waste money on the surrounds if they didn't fit.
The surrounds I have are broken.
Yes found the rivnuts, as you say, I cut them off, bashed them in, and while I was there I removed half of Slindon from inside the chassis.
Will have to get a rivnut tool now.

I've a pair you can have, just need a spray of black gloss to fresh them up. Have the louvres for the Td5 look! I replaced them with metal series style which I prefer.
Slindon sand....:eek::D gets everywhere forever!
P&P will do, I'll get a photo of them. Have a slatted grille too but a bit tatty, I went for the Stage1 look :rolleyes:

Hallo Cappers, thank you so much for the offer, I've just ordered a pair tho, and I have a lovely shiny grill already.
I've removed so much of Slindon, she's retired from off-roading now, turned her into a camper.
