Am advised that the coolant fans are controlled by a relay (part no YWB100980L) as per picture below. Is this true for the facelift versions as I've also been told the fans are controlled by the ECU and not by a relay? If YWB100980L is used on the facelift 1.8 can someone tell me where this relay is located as I haven't been able to find it...... I have a P0480 error on Fan 1 control circuit with an open circuit. All help appreciated.
Forgot to say that the fans both work, albeit that when the aircon is switched on both fans run immediately, whereas (I believe) only the aircon fan should run.

Not 100% sure on the 1.8, but if you have the fan controller mounted on the nearside of the radiator, then that proves there is a fan controller fitted. I'm 99.9% sure you'll see it mounted on the radiator however.
The controller looks like this.

Both fans are supplied by the same feed, so will run together. Only the early FL1 had separate fan controls for AC and cooling.

If the fans are working, then there's nothing to worry about. The code is originating from somewhere, but it won't be from the fan controller, which is a dumb unit.
