I went to order some of these from Paddocks today only to be told that they were no longer being made. The lack of them on ebay seems to confirm that. Why have they stopped making them? Just when I want a pair. Been meaning to get around to buying some for ages. You can't tell me that they are not a popular item at around £37 they don't break the bank. Land Rover not liking them maybe for being to similar to theirs? Copyright issues?

A relatively easy way for someone who can weld to make some dosh, methinks...

The originals are plastic and light, certainly couldn't make them at £37 a pair the plastic ones were sold at cos of the time that would be taken to make them! Plastic ones are moulded and therefore nice n cheap

Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure they can be made for less than £100.

Maybe, but now it is economics of scale for a car that hasn't been made for over 7 years. How many sales would they make?

That's my point, if I made a one off pair you'd be looking at more than £100 as I've got to make a single one of each and get it right. Making a batch I can jig it up, bend all the individual bits at the same time, so it cuts down a lot of time. On a batch run yeah under £100 is no problem, for a single pair, you'd be better off speaking to LR

The plastic ones can still be got online, for between £30 & £40, do a search for the part number VUB501390
There was a pair on my facelift, but one blew off a month ago, my young fella says my landy looks like a pirate with a patch so I've been meaning to get a new pair as well!

Are these still knocking about? A lot of sites are saying item obsolete.

Has anyone been to Land Rover recently? Can you save me a trip there tomorrow and tell me if they're available and how much?

You should look into making them, think you'd do some good business.....

Anyway, I've been in to Land Rover. These are still available at £115 + Value Added Theft (£138).
