f4 trip

f4 trip
comes up as boost pressure sensor
symtoms ;; feels like it pulling away in 3rd gear
sometimes f4 is not on when first start up
drive off as normal then between gear change big jolt the f4 cuts in
it is auto gearbox
is this what is causing problem or is it something to do with clutch system

F4 means the gearbox TCM has detected a fault, and the box is in limp mode, which keeps it in 4th gear. You need to get the codes read, or you'll never really know what's up with it.

In the vast majority of cases F4 flashing faults can be found by carrying out the resistance test. There have literally been hundreds of jatco auto's (what's fitted to the Freelander 1) diagnosed and fixed this way on ere over the years. More info over ere:
