f.p.s door will not open

Hi All,

I have a 1998 Discovery.

My front passenger side door locks and unlocks with the fob, but does not open with the door handle from the outside or the inside.

If I could get it open I ould strip it down but at the moment im stuffed.

Has anyone any idea's.

Ok, so after a fiddle (now its daylight), if I hold the door lock up, then use the door handle, the door will open.

Is this the famous spring that has gone ir is it just a mechanism in the door gone dry and needs lubricating???

Either, same with mine but I just put up with it. I use the driver's door other half can climb over

same problem here, think its the spring, i have a new replacement mechanism to put in mine just need time to strip out the door and fit it!

I just bought another mechanism of an auction site, in fact IIRC I bought a whole door because it was cheaper and I had loads of spares left afterwards

prob i have is door will open from both inside or out, but wont latch shut - so methinks it aint spring.

actually that aint true - after a lot of judicious slamming and swearing, it does, occasionally, latch.

Bit of a bugger driving along with a ratchet strap tightened between both front doors .
