After a bit of advice, 1997 300tdi, 90, bought an exhaust a while ago, full system, old one was a home made one by previous owner so couldn't compare, down pipe fitted, rear tail pipe fitted but the silencer fitted but is very close to the A frame, looks wrong but didn't have a choice at the time other to fit it and use it. Also know something is not right as the silencer is almost touching the A frame and axle/A frame articulation is splitting the rubber mounts. After looking at a parts catalogue, searching/googling for the year it should be ESR2297 down pipe, ESR4526 silencer and ESR4527 tail pipe, some look round and the same as what I've got and others look oval and possibly smaller which would help. Does anyone have the same style that fits right or better and have some photos to compare. The one I ordered a while ago was suppose to be for my vehicle but am not convinced. If it makes a difference my chassis is an ex army replacement, chassis only, so don't know the year of the chassis.

I thought 90's only had 2 types depending on the age, type I have or where the silencer goes between the chassis at the rear....

Thanks in advance. 20200509_135052.jpg 20200509_135226.jpg 20200509_135111.jpg 20200509_135135.jpg

There are a few different systems. I've found mine to be unusual and so, at times, tricky to get the parts of the pipe. It's the same as yours though and my box is as close to the A frame arm as yours. I don't know how it doesn't hit but it doesn't. Or, hasn't yet!
From the top, box, down pipe with CAT, tail pipe.

As you can see, the make is GT Exhausts

Interesting. This is the problem with aftermarket parts.

Al203...... I found your thread from a while back and was studying the images. I have the same silencer as in your pick, and the rest of the system. Your first image looks like the silencer is more oval and slightly smaller ??? My silencer is about touching the A frame and I think on articulation is stretching the rubbers and splitting them, hence the jubilee clips for temp repair. For the year, make, model etc. it should be right, but it's not, like you say could just be aftermarket but more people would have the same issues.

Not for your vehicle. Found this pic showing how far the box is away the A frame, so it could be the down pipe length or bend Is wrong... maybe.

discool....... that looks spot on, also an oval silencer. Is that still a 3 part system. Do you have any more info, part numbers, and any more images of system and mounts.

Nope sorry my knowledge only relates to other vehicles exhaust but I know the issue that can arise when fitting patten parts.
Google any of the part numbers u know or the ones shown above and click images and there’s a few actual photos of the the system’s bits. what I can see in your pick is the big space between pipe and axel.
