The trouble with modern design is that university trained engineers with no practical experience design engines and omit little things like the tangs on the bearing shells that stop the shells rotating in the housing and shutting off oil flow.With modern design and engineering processes theses type of engine failure should not happen at all, engines should do 200k with oil changes, with out problems

Have you read about the Tesla owner that was quoted €22,000 to fix his car? He took the motor & battery out to sell on and blew up the remains in an old quarry. Half the price of a new car to fix a car that was I think 5 years old and just out of warranty
