i'm due to change the gearbox and transfer box oils on my Disco soon, has anybody noticed any improvements using this when the engine is cold, sometimes until the box warms up it's a bit of a bitch to change gears.

also changing into 3rd is a bit snatchy, will this oil improve that or not?

A few people on here and other forums swear by this oil (in gearbox, not in transfer or diffs - they use EP 75w90).

MTF94 is around £28 for 5 litres (which'll almost change your gearbox twice, it's around 2.6 litres to fill - but I just got 2 changes out of 5 litres of MTF).

The EVO11 was a lot more expensive, but it MAY have benefits.

It's likely that your box has ATF if it's been serviced by a garage, and in which case, MTF may show a good improvement anyway.

Re your boxes, gearbox and transfer box need different oils. If you are going down the EVO oils route, you will need 3ltrs of EVO1 for the main gearbox and 6ltrs of EVO2 for the transfer box and both axles.

I did exactly this on our previous TDi 200 Disco and it made a significant and long-term improvement. She ran better - easier and free somehow - had better mph, better gear change and was noticeably quieter.

Not cheap I know, tried to buy in bigger containers but they won't supply:(, but I would say you will have a nicer driving vehicle if you do go for EVO.*

Incidently both are FULLY synth and therefore have longer operation cycles so you need to change the oils less often.

I have nothing to do with the supplier other than as a satisfied customer.

Cheers
Dave

I have 5 ltrs of Evo II and presumed i could use these in Gearbox & Transfer box, so i suppose i could put the evo II in the Transferbox, and get some MTF94 for the gearbox, and EP75w90 for the diffs would that be ok ?

my local motor factor sells MTF 94 for £8.96 gonna run down and get some

You can buy 5ltrs of MTF94 from the LR dealer for £28 - that's about £5.50 isn't it?

You can Use EVO II in your trans box and axles, you will need 6 ltrs. As you only have 5, why not do the tranny box and front axle - that'll take 4 ltrs and put the last ltr plus a bit of EP80w-90 in the back axle to make up the rest?
