Using V130 in a VM I calibrated my sunroof, the foxwell left it not fully closing with a whistle when the blower is on full.. SDD did the same but also told me there was a jam in the mech. it seems to run clear but there must be something catching.
as the name suggests - symptom driven diagnostics, it is different way to approach things and i seem to be thinking backwards, its all sort of modular but not logical?, bit frustrating being an R&D electronics test engineer.... that said I am more old school hardware over software.
Anyway I am also having trouble running live data - think it could be me not getting my head around it but i went to download V160, strangely using the above link having totally forgot Nodge that you started this thread.
My laptop was originally windows 7 64bit but had got messed up on the last windows 7 update - after a bit of effort trying to get people to sort me out , i just went for the official windows option of an upgrade to 10, only 32 bit as my RAM was 2GB - I now have 4GB after it was still struggling a bit.
the V160 install told me that the HV Safety could not be installed as it did not work with my OS, even though the website i found it through stated that W7,8,and 10 both 32 and 64 bit worked. with a video link with it runnign on w10 64bit.
I will maybe have another go at the live data and see really want injection correction rates which i don't think are available on the FL2, @Alibro just picking up on your EV conversion only at episode 3 on your YouTube, is this available on the CAN?
I know you are on the FL1 which is different, but i am thinking the CAN feeds the ECU which must need the correction values but the ECU doesn't pass this onto OBD?

Problem is with 32bit you can throw as much ram as you'd like it will only use 2.73 max 3.5 :)
Got my device today, will check it out soon and see what can be done or not. Perhaps even make the vm available with sdd and microcat all in one.

The 4G did help, 32bit requirements were 2G min.
with the 2G i did try a windows 7 VM lol should have known really lol she just locked up all round.
oh and I found out firefox is more memory hungry than edge

Microsoft have on their website windows 7 for free as a VM I will see if i can find the link again. all the no longer supported OSs are there

So I've got the latest 160.3 up and running. Very fancy/sexy indeed.
I will try 157 as 160 adjusts the interface for legacy every time.

Anybody wants sdd 160.03 and/or microcat 2014?
I have both (separate vms) it is actually very easy in vm cause everything is set and you only fire it up when needed without installing anything (but vmware player) on main.

That's what my version looks like.
I think it's a reasonable piece of software, and it did enable me to program a replacement second hand ECM to my vehicle.
Which incidentally LR dealers say can't be done. :D

Is your setting up the program for legacy (pre 2010) every time? it's just about 30 seconds but annoys me.
Dealers say it can't be done from the financial point of view not technical :) Prob some convenient policy somewhere.

I'm not sure, as it was 6 months ago, when I used SDD last, and I didn't pay much attention, other than it did the stuff I needed it to.

Any issues PM.

I chose VM for many reasons:
1) Can have a modern OS/laptop (64bit, win10) and still run this without the need of a dedicated machine for it
2) Can be shared across devices
3) Can move the vm around if for example you are upgrading/swapping the laptop
4) Don't need to install heavy software on daily laptop or disable antivirus/firewall for this

I'm considering buying a SDD system for my 2005 Disco 3, but I've been warned that not all 2005s are supported by it. Can anyone help me to figure out how to tell?
Thanks!

I cannot see how same model would not work, unless they changed the whole ecu/can after launch is is unlikely. BUT the model was released before 2005 however is listed in jlr as compatible.

Legend has it (or so the bloke from the Internet told me) that some D3s had the earlier "T4" interface programed into the ECU. I can't find out anything anywhere on how to identify which version mine has.

I'm not well up on this stuff, and obviously don't want to throw money at a system that my car might not talk to

Indeed 30 quid is a fortune, not worth the risk.
Not to mention if it does not work for you you can sell it further on ebay or somewhere.

I'm looking at kit with the laptop, software and cable, about £300. As I've said, I'm not well up on this stuff, so maybe I'm looking at the wrong set up, but I'm not sure that £30 would get me everything I need or how use-able any of it would be with different software.
