What does it do exactly?
As you are a man of means I think you should take the lead and buy a new genuine one and fit it
it removes hydrocarbons from petrol fumes before they reach the air outside as the tank vents. trouble is with age they deteriorate and clog so it can take ages to fill up because the air can't get out of the petrol tank as the new petrol tries to get in, so the petrol pump cuts out all the time.

I'm going to make the assumption that your motor is out of warranty
Chop the pipes off and let it breathe, I mean we had petrol engined vehicles for a hundred years before that junk got fitted, never saw the point to it in the first, just a waste of money and effort for so little reward.

Just unplug the 12v supply to the canister, replacement is every 10 years I believe so mine is overdue being 21 years old.

mine is well overdue too, only 20 years old though.
