anyone had experience of using etch primer on there landy?

im assuming that on my front doors after all the existing flaking paint is removed which will be easy,i etch prime the doors and then use a high build primer and then my top coat of paint,

how much am i likely to use on the 2 front doors?,it seems to come as 1ltr and 2 ltr packs quite exspensive so dont wont to overkill the quantity

Have a chat with your local indy car repair place. They'll be able to advise you. I find that a packet of chocolate biscuits normally gets them talking over a brew.
If they tell you to p*ss off then they either dont know or dont want your future business. Its how I managed to get started when I wanted to learn how to weld with a MIG welder. Loads of tips and advice freely offered. I'm also now good mates with the mechs which comes in handy.

You are right about the primers, be sure to get rid of all the corrision, before you apply the etch primer. Don't know who's primer you will be using, but the stuff we use at work comes with a hardener which we mix 1 to 1. So a litre is more than enough, and you will still be left with the half. If you are only doing spots only mix up a wee bit as once, as once it is mixed then you cannot keep it. Also get yourself a good spraying mask and the right filters, as there are lots of CHROMATES in there which are very very bad for your health.Very Important.
Good luck with the spray job

i used this on mine

I needed 2 tins to go over the large portions on my LR that were back to metal.

None of it has lifted yet!
