But will do nothing for the dash warnings of ABS/TRACTION/SRS that the OP seems to be refering too....

Will give information on engine parameters, which as you say is very useful, but for the OP's issues of

It won't help!

Thanks all, so just to clarify the nanocom will clear the dash codes? Will call the service in Ankara and see if they one - the cost is too high for me unfortunately. Looks like another 12 hour drive to Ankara is on the cards but at least this mechanic is good, the guys here just can't figure it out.

Also, do you know how easy it is to get ahold of a LCD screen? The one has gone on the heat control.. changed all the bulbs today so we now have backlight display. The heating is a bit iffy too but hope by being able to see the LCD screen at least we know the temperatures. The Aircon seems to be going fine except for on the drivers side which stays hot. When we press the buttons on the heater can hear clicking near the glovebox. Also have water (appears greeny but could be that it has been there for sometime unnoticed) in the passenger footwell... :(

I assume its a left hand drive, if so the leak is probably from the heater O rings. If it is a left hand drive then the job is easier than the RHD. No need to take the dash out and I think there is a guide in the "How to" section.

Thanks all for your help and replies.

Just an update... bit the bullet and drove the car 1000km or so to get a proper mechanic that knows what he is doing to look at it. This was after a crazy few weeks of everything seeming to break on us (previous owners must have had some good tricks up their sleeves because we were absolutely taken for a ride with this).

Hasn't overheated again (see my post on head gaskets), water puddles are from heater o-rings, shakey ride is from ball joints (CV joints? can't quite understand the turkish/english translation) and also drive shaft was damaged. The catalysts need replacing, pistons have been cleaned and found not damaged, spark plugs and wires will be replaced as well.

Previous owners did a really good job of sucking us in and lying through their friggin teeth (also the mechanic that checked it for us). I want to take them to court (I am so angry). There were no crash reports on the car but apparently the passenger airbag is missing. There was a dent in the dash, but after repeated questions to the previous owner and the mechanic regarding this, they assured us it hadn't been deployed. Well, it has. All the lights on the dashboard don't light up nor does an alarm sound and our mechanic said it has been rigged (that the previous mechanic said were normal). I am still a bit dubious as to the presence or not of this airbag...

Anyway thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it. I will be selling this car (if I can) because I just don't have the cash to throw at it anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you've copped a world of pain. Even when straight they tend to drain your wallet a bit. Given the lies you've already been told I don't blame you.
