A few years back i used to overhaul nissan td27 engines got a bit complacent with building didn't realise they changed the pistons 2x types fitted, put the rings on and straight into the bores built it up and when fitted smokes like a pig for weeks!

Found on inspection the piston rings were stuck into the pistons oil just passing through, investigated 2x types fitted industrial engine and car engine, so easy done i kicked myself so did the gaffer but a lesson learnt!

Fit rings fit piston clamp over rings compress then remove they should be back off the piston not squashed inside it like these were!!

You need a compression test to see were the fault lies poke and hope won't work mate. good luck.

Well, it seems that I'm about to find out why the blue smoke. I believe my timing belt broke today (I can't get the crankshaft pully off at the moment, waiting for a friend with a puller). 3 bent pushrods so far :(

As for undoing the pully nut, no problem at all...IT'S NOT THERE

So, I'm thinking that the woodruff key will be mangled and that's why I can't get the pully off. :(:(:(

Will let you know later on.
