So what do i want for UJ's and general purpose stuff?

Want to fill up the ole grease gun do ive been looking for big tubs. But theres black lithium, white lithium, synthetic blah blah blah. :confused:

Whos got what and where did you get it? :D

depends what you want. But get a good grease that is water resistance. Them cheap grease easily mixes with water. High quality grease is worth there weight in gold ie less spent on replacement parts and time spent doing repairs. This uj issue which is a on going story. buy high quality UJ's with a grease nipple, grease before you go off roading,wading then grease again after your done to flush the **** out. Got 190k on my truck and still on original uj's they have grease nipples.

Do people really think they are getting ripped off on 6 quid UJ over a 12-14 quid GKN uj
when the higher priced one will last 3-4 times longer if they would just grease the damn things
 
I've always used Castrol LM as a general purpose grease. A half kilo tub lasts me for ages and it's got that push down insert that makes filling grease guns easy. You can even get it from halfrauds if you have to...
 
I have a tub of copper grease with a paint brush in which I use to coat any nuts and bolts I use on various jobs. This is also useful for brake springs and moving parts within the brake housing ... apart from the obvious! :fish:

Also have a tub of lithium grease for bearings.

I got a double tub pack off the bay pretty cheap as per this link:

2 x GREASE 500gm TIN 1 x Lithium LM High Melting Point + 1 x Copper Grease | eBay

You can also get a copy of Grease the musical if you're that way inclined! ;)
 
The ammount of fares we have come in and say they just want a UJ but then we inpect the yolk and its twiste and they end up having to have a new shaft is silly, if they just greased them they would cause far less damage and reduce overall cost! Although it does mean I've got a UJ swap down to less than 30 mins now :D

Got a noo grease gun from my old man today, it dosen appear to have the capability to instal a cartridge though, you have to fill it by hand. :(
