There is a new heat shield that fits over the exhaust 2146K01 for £18. Should reduce heat transfer to radiator. It needs a bodge bolt on one side for the old manifold - I used an exhaust clamp. Plus some lock wire at the bottom.

Should be useful in reducing HGF risk.

my second thought :D is can the 220Turbo lump be fitted as a replacement? Since the introduction of the "Klinger" gasket, HGF's are a lot fewer on that engine and it is capable of easy tuning to 300BHP! :) That would be a lot easier than my V8 suggestion. Only prob I can think is ECU mapping. Any thoughts? Or maybe a new thread...

Sorry Dorowe for hijacking (again) yo thread

switching engines is not an easy option - not as original for resale, wiring loom + ECU issues.

With HGF rebuilding the K series to latest spec is probably best but not cheap option. New LR multi layer gasket, stronger botton rail & head bolts, modified PRT thermostat + inevitable head skim. Also consider new radiator plus the heat shield above.

Last but not least, liner heights MUST be above the block - ideally 4/5mm.

Archives on many K series BBS forums full of detail on this.
