engineers report on mods?

hi there, have been working on a tipper bed made from a transit bed on my mates 110. he rang the insurance company and they said he needs an engineers report?? what the hell is one of those and what is the point!!? im an engineer, can i write it!?
any help appreciated,

I think it is just to certify that everything has been done correctly. If it is your friends land rover and you have your own / work for an engineering firm, you should be able to write a report for him just explaining that you have examined the vehicle for structural integrity and safety etc. On the other hand, take it to your local landy specialists and give them a tin of biscuits for a piece of paper with their logo and address on it and then ask who ever is in charge to write a quick paragraph explaining that the vehicle has been checked and all is okay.

i think its ridiculous! if it passes an mot then its fine! load of bollocks if you ask me. might see if he wants to call into a landy place to see if they will give it a once over!

just got in achuly :rolleyes:
been over to jamie's to help him finish off putting his enjin back together :doh::D
did'nt know what the bottom pulley looked like on the fone :doh: so discribed it to him and thought better pop over , just as well i did he could'nt get the viscose back on turns out he'd only put the waterpump pulley on back to front :hysterically_laughi

yeah turned out it was the tappets screwed down too tight and the cam belt 1 knotch off correct :doh: (former not thier fault latter was)
we got it all squared away bar the air box and fired up and ran sweet off the mark.
