Never been so embarrassed ever….

I’ve always driven manuals. And It was in Drive… put it in park and it whirred up
:Edit:

Hi guys,

03, TD5, auto.

When I turn the key to position 2 all the electrics come on fine and the warning lights go out (bar oil and battery). The radio starts up happily. I can hear the fuel pump gently whirring.
then
When I turn the key.
Nothing

certainly no turn over whatsoever just nothing. Also the radio cuts out when I move to position 3. Back to two and it’ll start up again.

Any ideas??

I ordered a nanocom when I bought it but it’s still on its way.

Hi. Seems like something on the starter's path, relay, solenoid, brushes, corrosion on the lead, the motor, etc...first of all check the lucar connector on the solenoid to not be loosen

Thank you. Don’t suppose you know of any handy guides re solenoid replacement do you? Just of the top of your head- I’m looking for some now so no worries.

Thanks again.

Agreed with SF. I've ringed the connections on the starter. The nut and stud ringed is the feed from the battery. The push fit lug is the feed to the built in solenoid. This can come loose, or corrode, so check that. If you have a multimeter, check you have voltage at the connections.

Thanks everyone. Have some new things to tinker with even if they are working now.
Don't worry, many of us, especially peeps like me not so used to autos any more, have done it!
Throws you into a panic for a while, until you realise what you've done!!;)
