OK, my R reg P38 diesel AUTO has a seized engine (pinprick water leak that i couldn't find that eventually blew big time whilst towing). I have a running P reg P38 MANUAL diesel Ive got the engine out of. Question is will this swap without grief. I know i've got to remove flywheel etc but is everything about the block the same for manual and auto. Thanks.

The same as far as I know , I think the only changes to engine were 99 when they added an egr , but still no different from manual to auto
But stand to be corrected as I am not an expert on them

You may want to change the cam cover (clean it out) from your 1998 on to the earlier engine and also maybe the oil filter housing if the P reg has the earlier version. Apart from removing flywheel and fitting drive from 1998 engine all is basically the same apart from what i have already mentioned and EGR valve Etc.
