hi does anyone know the laws on engine swaps in france, i.e v8 into my series petrol, i always thought it was against the law but i meet a guy over here who had a 4.2 with auto box in a 2a and he said you were aloud as long is it was a collection veicule, can anyone shed any light on the subject?

I know that in Belgium you are not allowed to do this sort of thing. If you do you need to go and get a new 'homologation' if you want to use it as a normal family / utilitarian car.
If it is an 'ancetre' then you can nearly do what you want as there is no 'control technique' needed. The ancetre O plates mean you cant drive at night, more than 10 Km from your home etc...
Not sure if the same applies to France though. Could you not phone up Land Rover France or a local garage and ask? I am sure they are more help.
This said, I am helping a mate fit a V8 in a D90 and this is only used for offroading and is not road legal...

Hi,

In France, I'm told that you must not put a diesel engine into a petrol car ..... for reasons that don't apply to Land Rovers.
