Will do. I'm really not feeling the enthusiasm about this swap to be honest :( I'm ultra low on cash at the moment and have an insurance renewal coming up in April... Chin up Adam, will give it a bloody good crack this weekend.

Some tech questions for you guys. I no longer have a series engine, I sold it on ebay. What mounts do I need off of the Series engine? Just the rubber blocks or is there a bracket that bolts to the block that I need?

I know I need a series friction plate for the clutch and I'm hoping/assuming my pug 2.3 will have that (it must do!?)

I may miss out an intercooler. It's not going to make that much of a difference is it? I'm going from a 67hp diesel to a 110hp... Losing even 20hp would still put me 20hp up on my old engine!:)

My Insa special tracks are hitting on the top of inner arches. So I need to raise the suspension, only a touch. Who has 1 tonne shackles for sale? Are these just for the rear or are there front ones too?
As I was thinking maybe it would eliminate the crank pulley-front axle problem.

Thats all for now, Ad

You need the steel engine mount brackets which bolt to the engine block from a Series 2 1/4 petrol or diesel engine. Are you keeping the power steering pump? If not then the method described in the Glencoyne engineering website for repositioning the alternator works well. To do that you'll need the alternator mounting brackets from a series III 2 1/4 engine. You can use a series alternator or the Disco alternator can easily be modified to fit the mounting bracket.

Quite a few people leave the intercooler off when fitting these engines into a series LR. It will make for a simpler installation, but might smoke more under load.

There have been some good threads discussing the pros and cons of fitting extended shackles. Try doing a search on it. John Craddock sells extended shackles
