Engine stopping

Been using the landy now the gearbox is sorted to do some reasonable mileage and noticed a problem.

A couple of times during each journey the engine cuts out completely for a second and carries on as normal.

Also it's quite smokey when you put your boot down

I know one of the carbs needs some TLC

Could the problem be fuel starvation or a bad earth?

Any ideas?
