I'm looking for an engine stand that I can use for various engines. I particularly would want it to be really good for the 300TDi but not limited to that. Anybody any experience of any decent ones under a hundred pounds?

I have a clarke one I dont use anymore if that's any use to you

This wasn't a wanted advert as such but if the Clarke one is up to the task which model is it and how much do you want for it?

Think the bigger one for just over 100 quid might do it, mine is the 49 quid one

I have one of these:

https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ces-750a-engine-stand

It worked brilliantly with my 300tdi and I had no problems with the engine being sat on it for several weeks. The only problem I found was that the paint scratched off quite easily, but I suppose that's to be expected.

To be honest, I'm not sure that the smaller 500a would be up to the job.

Thats a good one, like my smaller one you can turn the engine to any position and lock it in place and they are stable

Just make sure that it goes wide enough for the 300 tdi block, mine didn't :)

Noted.... I have a 300TDi engine that's a runner is the free disco so it would be nice to take it out and spend a little time cleaning it up, doing the head etc then painting it and getting it ready to go into the defender as a spare.

I have the Clarke CES750A it's the bigger of the two stands they do
And I've used it on lots of engine builds from flat 4 Scooby engines to the biggest of the bmw straight 6 engines without any problems
So I can recommend one of them
