Hi all, wondering if anyone can help. I have just had the ever so common HGF which has stuffed my engine!!! I'm going to swap it but struggleing to find a 1.8 engine for a decent price. Does anyone know of any other cars with K series engines that will not require any modification to the short engine that i could just transfer injectors etc (have to keep injector set up as LPG)??

Thanks all and happy motoring.

VVC - Same lump, different cylinder head etc. You'll want to opt for a non-vvc for a freebie as otherwise you'll need to chance ECU and a few other bits and bobs which will prove expensive but i believe so far it is do-able. I've heard of people put a VVC matched with an Emerald ECU in a freebie. VVC is also better on fuel apparently.

They are are only fuel efficient because of the higher power to weight ratio. That's the case for 2wd cars, there should be little gain in a FL1.

Have you a definitive link or source on the Emerald VVC In a FL1.?

The VVC only comes alive at 5000rpm, there goes your fuel economy, I reckon the transmission will shake your teeth out at that rpm, munch its way through gearbox diff, IRD and VCU's, plus big torque steer.

There's a distinct possibility that VVC's in FL could take you off road when you least expect it........................possibly through the hedge at the next 'CREST over 90 RIGHT'

N.I...

I can't remember where i saw it but it was on one of the K series engine tuners website. Similar to JE engineering or Dave Andrews i think, niether of those two though. They'd also done a turbo on the 1.8 in a freebie, air intake system and full exhaust system. Sounded like one powerful 1.8 when they'd finished. They had a picture of the engine bay as well, looked pretty nice. Shame i can't remember what website it was on.

Someones mentioned ploughing a freebie through a hedge before to me lol. I was surprised at how well it does actually handle when i first got it! Should be even better when i get my spacers on to give a wider wheelbase and my bucket seats in to save on the old leather seat weight! The latter should also save me a few mpg as well lol.
