I've got a B reg 90 with lt77 and no engine it was a diesel.
My dad gave me a v8 sd1 engine that i took from his 2a it has adapter kit etc .But my question is will it fit on my engine mounts (chassis)??
I put a 2.5 na in my 2a with out cutting the chassis mounts, and my dads 2a mounts looked untouched.
Anyone got any experiance on this?

I did this swap the other way round a couple of months ago

I had to move my mounts further back when i put in my 200tdi

As far as i understand the mounts are the same for both 2.5na and 200tdi) So you will, im sure, have to move them.

My advice having tried both engines would be to sell ya V8 and put it towards a Disco 200tdi engine and put that in ya 90! V8 sounds awsome however personaly i dont think you can beat the all round 200tdi engine! :)

I am lead to believe that the 2.5td and the 200tdi have the same block - that is why the engine mounts are in the same position.

"Developed under the codename ‘Gemini’, the 200Tdi was planned from the start to be used on all Land Rover’s products.[12] For production reasons, it had to be machined on the existing machinery, so used the same block and crankshaft as the existing 2.5-litre diesel engines. It also used many ancillary parts used on the older engines.[60][61] However, it was a true break with the past. An aluminium alloy cylinder head reduced weight and noise, a new Bosch injection system gave improved running characteristics and better starting performance. An intercooler boosted power and efficiency further."

Thanks very much . I didn't want to be all ready to drop it in and find i needed plate / welding kit from work and not to mention a day of pis*ing about.
As for the v8 i'm gonna go for it, don't do a lot of miles it will be my toy and yes i probably will regret it but you got to have a v8 at some stage :)
