I was hoping i could get some advice on a major problem that i have with my Defender 110 TD5.
The engine is misfiring and jumping throughout the gears and has gone into safety mode 3 times.
The problem started after it had been standing in 40+ degrees for three days without moving. I then took it up the hill behind the house, towing an empty trailer to a field. There was slight juddering on the first trip. On the second trip it was jumping quite badly and when i changed into low range in the field it stalled getting up a slope. On the third trip it went into safety mode and i limped home.
After a few days i took it out again and although it juddered a bit it wasnt too bad. The next time went well on the flat until i started going up hill and went into safety mode again.
It went to the Land Rover garage and they found the two faults logged showing low fuel pressure. However they could not find the reason causing it. I drove home, a journey of 1hr 30, up and down steep hills with no problem at all, then the next day the engine started juddering constantly and went into safety mode again.
The fuel injectors are new, as is the fuel filter. We did think it could be heat related, or bad fuel. The tank is nearly full of fresh fuel now and is still playing up. Could there be debris in the tank causing it?
Any ideas would be great as i live in France and have some difficulty explaining and understanding things.
Many thanks.
