I'm almost there!
Just had a underbonnet fuel pump fitted on a 2001 TD4
The thing works great but the engine managment light is still on. The garage tried to turn it off but couldnt even though now the pump is fixed no error code is showing. The mechanic said his gizmo could not reset everything.

If no code is showing does it sound like it just needs resetting?
Will it reset itself or can I do it by disconnecting the battry?

Any ideas welcome.

I don't think a 2001 TD4 is OBDII compliant which means that the universal code readers will not work with it to clear the light although if the garage were able to read the ECU and see that there were no fault codes I would have thought they would have been able to reset it as well.

Strange one

I don't think it will. If the fault code is clear then hopefully the light should go out itself after being driven for a while and assuming no new code is registered - fingers crossed!

Have you tried the search button at the top of the main page.
I have listed occasions when my engine management light came on.
Once it came on when the air filter was clogged with black soot.I found a hole in the exhaust downpipe, the escaping fumes had clogged the filter.I cleaned the filter on the side of the road and drove on and fitted new downpipe asap.Another time was before the turbo packed in,and another time a fugked cps.The cps(crank position sensor)dying brought about other symptoms, like the rev counter and speedo stopped working.

If your engine management light is on its telling you there is a problem that needs to be sorted .
I bet a new pump plus labour weren't cheap.
