Having owned my TD4 2001 from almost new through thick and thin its now running better than it ever has! However many years ago when the fuel pumps started going wrong for the first time i gave up paying out to have the yellow engine warning light reset out and its been happily glowing away telling me the fuel pressure is low from many pumps ago (11 years) !
The car is from a time when "testbook" was the system until a common OBD system was used. as far as i know the common ODBs don't want to know it and no amount of pressing the "clear all faults button will do anything and nor does disconnecting the battery. So now MOT time and apparently it will be a fail! (though the car has passed 11 times with it on and if running better than ever it will fail because a light is on. (now giving false information) so anyone any ideas? or anyone able to do a reset with a testbook or testbook clone soft where somewhere near Hampshire /Surrey gu35 I am happy to come to you for a reset at resalable cost before the next MOT next year Thanks Gordon

You can buy a code reader/ resetter for the FL1, even if it is pre OBD2. The Icarsoft I930 will do what you need. It will even tell you why you have a light, as it could be something you're not aware of.

I bought a Lynxs and do all my own code work, man up dude and buy a code reader and stop paying the man. Stand up and rely on yourself for once in your life

Well the cheapest Freelander diag tool is about $200 (£100) - the Lynx a lot more. It costs me $30-$35 to have the codes read and in 8 years I've needed it twice. It doesn't make sense to own my own ODB tool.

If I owned a motor that was prone to lift pump issues or common rail nightmares, it might be a necessity !

My L Series has inbuilt diagnostics - if I turn the key and the engine starts, then all is well. If it doesn't, then get a new battery :D

I do jest slightly, one day something is bound to go wrong with it. I think a diag tool might be quite helpful in trying to reduce the amount of smoke it kicks out to.
