My 97` Range Rover 2.5 DT

Has gone into engine disabled mode after charging the battery

I have entered the eka code and it works, starts first

Then when i lock the car (manually with the key) fob doesnt work have changed battery today on both fobs, it locks fine red immobilser flashes,

BUT.....

Every time i open it (manully with the key) try to start i get the message engine disabled so i enter the eka code and it works, starts first time,no problem

So why each time i open the car do i now have to enter this code to start the car it annoying and its up for sale at the moment have people coming tomorrow to view and hopefully buy it, so would really appriciate some advice in getting this sorted cheers

Put the key in the ignition turn to position two and press buttons. See if that syncs fob to car.

Just tryed wammers idea - no luck

Just to add when i unlock the door the imobilser light that flashes red go`s out and doesnt flash - so must be working

Hi, i have 2 fobs and both have new batterys in today but still no good

eka code works every time

You need to re-sync the FOB's, read your owners manual, there are differing re-sync proceedures according to year. either that or do a search this problem has been reported a few times.

I assume your new batteries are the right ones and that they inserted the right way round and that the red LED flashes when you press the buttons?

Batterys are right one`s but no red light is flashing on my fob when pressed,

Ah, there is probbaly your issue. If the keyfob red LED isn't flashing when you press a button, it isn't working. Not got the batteries upside down?

The fobs never worked before, just the keys and i just use to manually unlock and put key into ignition and it use to work, before i removed the battery to charge it

If the fobs have never worked ,why have you changed the batteries?.
If you disconnect the vehicle battery or change the fob batteries then the fobs will have to be resynced to the vehicle.if the fobs are not working, then they wont resync.
As yours is 97MY you may not have friendly resync. You may have to use the key in door method.
You need first to ensure the fob batteries are inserted correctly and the Led on the fob flashes when you press either of the buttons.

I have a tester to check if the fob is sending a signal. so if the led is duff but still sending a signal ill know, pluss i could check the input into the Becm for a voltage change every time the buttons are pressed. then theres the old "use my eyes" to be sure as you say the batterys are in place and the lid lines up with the arrows etc . :)

Try open the fobs again and note to where exactly you have to turn the battery lid to get contact, must be exact to work. (contact points could be bent/damaged) Personally had bit of a kerfuffle when replacing mine but got there in the end, sometimes the handbook is correct/useful for simple things.
