Engine cuts out (electrical)

Alright chaps<

Right..

When i can get my 2.5td 90 to start with out all the dash lights flashing and it making a clicking noise the engine runs very poor and when i start to pull off it will just cut out or itll cut out when im half way out of a junction. a friend suggested to run a wire from the spade connection on the lucas fuel pump to + on the battery so i did this and it will run fine with it connected as soon as i remove it from the battery the engine will struggle and die. so im thinking either a relay maybe or the ignition solanoid is it?

please let me know any suggestions

put a new spade crimp on the existing wire that's connected to the fuel solenoid

what Sean says. If that doesn't cure it I'd be checking out the ignition switch anorl as that would also link quite well with the flashing dash lights and clicking etc.

i take it was a loose connection.

good - if you want that joint to last another 20 years join some solder over the crimp as well
