Right I'll be home soon so starting to think about getting the rangie back on the road. She currently is engine and gearboxless as these went in my challenge truck  but the rest is in preety good nick, just need to do 1 body mount.

But im at amiss on what engine to drop back in her.

Ive got a 300tdi sitting in the workshop with low oil pressure probably just pump and shells, So option 1 is completely rebuild this and drop it in. But if I do im only left with 300 power.... and I want more :D

So option 2 is hybrid turbo the engine big intercooler etc to get some more power out of it (engine condition depending)

Option 3 TGV engine, this is more expencive but more power and a crate engine so should be reliable ??

Option 4 and the one thats taking my heart at the moment ;) Cummins 6BT, oodles of power and torque and good mpg but fecking heavy which is the downside and taking up 99% of the engine bay  but the power is very tempting

Option 5 something more exotic OM 606, bmw engine or something else special

Fabrication, modification etc isnt an issue and cost is a value thing I dont mind spending abit to get something awesome but 200+ HP would be a nice goal

As you may have guessed I want diesel :D

The rangie will be daily drive and possible expedition vehicle but may get a 110 for expedition im still undecided

Cheers guys :D

Me, I'd go for a Tddi Transit engine. Good strong engine, light weight, loads of bottom end torque, parts are not that expensive and with a remap from Van tuner you can get 180bhp if I remember correctly.

All that weight for how much horsepower? I would have thought the PSA/Ford 2.2 would be a good bet - especially of you can get hold of the sequentially turbo charged type - 200+ bhp no probs in a relatively lightweight package.

The 6BT will look impressive but I can't see the benefits really - other than making people go oooooh when lifting the bonnet - or pulling tree stumps out on tickover. The refinement will likely be terrible. Horses for course guess! :D

Horsepower is anything up to 1000. torque in equal or greater ammounts 250 hp and 4-500 ftlb is very easy to get. Plus 30 mpg easy and awesome sound.

Yes its heavy but it will also be unique. No electronics either which is nice
