Hi iv recently been given a discovery2 td5 2000,
Its failed mot on,
Headlight aim
Front numberplate unreadable
Rear sidelight not working
Rear fog lamp not working
Rear fog switch not working,

So might have an electrical nightmare,

it runs but both sides of the starter relay is live all the time starter will stick on even with key in pos 1 or 2 and with the tail or live lead off the starter so to start it its key on put relay in and take relay out again,

Also from having a poke about this evening

Rear fog switch appears to be dead but so does the front fog switch,
Rear heated window button doesn't seem to do anything,
Fuel door release button does nothing,
Also even though the switches light up i have no electric windows either but no realy clicking sound and also the rear windows don't work on their own rear switches either

All fuses are checked and good non blown,

I had another pile of relays from my old d2 so swapped all about with no luck,

Apart from just hitting order on a pair of fuseboxes under bonnet and dash is there anything to be aware of programming wise?

Hi, good move to rule out the fuseboxes first, start with the interior fusebox, disconnect the battery then after the swap and battery reconnection turn ignition on 2 and let it so 5 minutes(dont turn ignition to crank prior of that) then see if there are improvements and starter behaves the same , if it does unplug that brown connector which is in front of the fusebox and if the starter stops working then the problem is with the ignition switch, if with that connector unplugged is the same replace the engine bay fusebox too... according to the results we'll speak again.
You might be lucky to be only the interior fusebox at fault

Hi there nothing has arrived yet, but i did plug my delphi into it,
I can get fogs and windows and intermittent wiper working through diagnostics is this an indication the bcu will likley be ok?

If everything which didnt work is working with command through diagnostic tool then the problem is somewhere in the switching circuits which can be in the IDM too so you must rule out the fusebox

So interior fuse box changed followed as above, immobiliser light went out will crank and fixed electrics,
Now it just cranks and cranks and cranks and wont start,
Everytime i unlock it the alarm goes off till i insert the key

If the immob light goes out and alarm stops sounding when i put key in ignition so it should still start like it did?

Then you have the answer... fix the fob or get a good one programmed cos that's the problem... as long as the alarm stops when you insert the key in the ignition the RF receiver is OK, probably the microswitches in the fob are gone

Yea fuel pump runs just got another 3 gallons to chuck in diesel incase, i dont know history of level gauge working, also out of fear i put my old fuse box in and everything works

Seems that you have two faulty fuseboxes... the initial symptoms might come back soon with the old fusebox unless it wasnt a bad connection in a plug

Thank you @sierrafery appreciate your time and help

I hope so, i put the 'new unit' in and managed to leave the battery connected overnight with the starter relay out incase haha, all seems too be working still,
Got all trims and everything back together hopefully get it in for mot after the weekend
