Electrical issues

Hello all. Hope you're well.
I have a discovery td5. It has been parked up all through this lockdown and not used.
It was damp and mouldy inside.
I used the battery from my van in order to get the central locking to work so I could get in the back for jump leads.
Then jump started it with its original battery.
Ran fine.
Left it running all afternoon to charge the battery.
Then noticed this evening that I had a odd symbol in the odometer... the B Symbol thing with the line... I'll try and add a pic if nobody knows what I mean.
Also the indicator lights on the dash don't show when indicators are on...and the wipers are permanently on intermittent.
I've driven it...it drives fine...but I can't cure the problem...
Any help or advice will be very much appreciated.

Looks like you might have got watter in a fusebox.

OK... I'm taking the fuse box out tomorrow to have a look.. the were no signs of water when I looked it over quick this afternoon but I didn't take it out to look properly.
So maybe it will dry out and solve its own problem ?? Or is it more in depth than that ??

That'd be a good start! Put it somewhere well warm like an airing cupboard!
Have you had the codes read, not that that will necessarily tell you much in this case.

No codes read no...is it worth cleaning the fusebox circuit board with something before drying out..or should I leave well alone.

Well I took the interior fuse box out last and it had signs of water ingress...bit of corrosion etc...cleaned it with contact cleaner...and left it in the airing cupboard until five minutes ago.
Refitted it and nothing has changed.
Any help or advice will be very VERY much appreciated.

OK...thank you for your help so far.
I have fitted a tested and working interior fuse box...still have the same issues.
1. Indicator constantly on intermittent.
2. Flashing symbol bottom left of odometer.
3. Indicators work but don't show on cluster.
Everything else is fine... central locking, immobiliser.. unlocks... drives...lights..Windows...all work fine.
I removed checked and cleaned the BCU.. was pretty much perfectly OK apart from very slight corrosion on a couple of solders...cleaned ut with contact spray...dried over night...
Still exactly the same issues.
Any advice will be very much appreciated.

Hello all. Just thought I'd update you on my issue.
I got a tested and fully working interior fusebox...didn't change anything.
Got a tested and working BCU ..set up everything with a Nanocom...didn't change anything.
So zi was hoping somebody might have some advice on what to check now.

Hi. So at this point you have both ''new'' interior fusebox and BCU in the vehicle and still have the flashing B and all other initial symptoms? If yes, you should rule out the engine bay fusebox too with a known good one and if still no joy then a complex troubeshooting can start on the circuits, i'll try to help you with that then

Just wanted to update you all with my issues...
If you've been reading this you'll know that I've been chasing the above problems for a week or so....and as of tonight they are all sorted.
Thanks to you all for your help...and a huge thank you to Paul McGill at Discovery 2 Parts for his knowledge.. experience.. time and patience ....and excellent parts service.
After swapping the BCU...the fusebox...chasing and checking wiring til I was seeing it in my sleep it turned out to be a faulty cluster... picked up on by Mr McGill... a very nice man... nothing but praise for him.
So... the symptoms I had suggested IDM.. BCU.. and I understand why...but as rare as it apparently is.. it could also be as simple as a faulty cluster.
