hi i have a p38 1996 and i replaced the standard cloth seats with cream leather electric seats, the cables all plug in to the becm and the heated fuction on the seats works but the buttons to adjust the seats dont work at all, i have checked all my fuses and the are all fine, does the car need to be reset on a range rover computer? also the other day my car blew out a core plug, i know how to put it back but i dont know the engine well and im just wondering if im going to have to remove the exhust manifold (its a 2.5 diesal bmw engine)

have a look on the top of the becm, above the plug where the fuses are and it will say either H or L. if its H the seats will work with the new(what you will require) wiring harness if L it will not.

never tried it but i suppose you could, all you would need to do is find out where to put the + and - to get power to the system. what plugs are on the seats other than the heated part?

it may be worth putting a master switch in somewhere accesible then at least you can turn the power off if something goes wrong or to ensure it wont spontaniously combust!!!

the seats will only work if your car has a hi line becm, look at the label on the top of the becm, it will have the letter L or the letter H .H meaning hi line.
