Hello,

I am trying to get hold of a pair of electric front seats for my SE, and was wondering if anybody else had changed the manual seats, to electric, and how straight forward it was?

I wasnt sure if there were ECU's for the seats hidden somewhere else in the car, if the seat unit has everything it needs to work, and is simply plug and play?!

Anyhelp would be good!

Im alse looking for some new interior bits, including the interior bits on the top half of the pillars if anyone knows where to look? Also the side trim panels of the centre console in cream leather... i cant seem to find them anywhere!

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

will only work if you have a hi line becm, situated under drivers seat, pull bakc the plastic trim and look at the label on the top, if it has the letter H on it your ok,make sure you get the loom that joins the seats together when you buy the seats, stew.

Thanks for your help. I will look for the highline becm tomorrow. Can you explain the difference between the highline and other becm's? Im going to guess i havent got one if i had manual seats to begin with?

I will also look for the loom that joins the seats together. Is it simply plug and go with the highline then?

Thanks

your becm may well be a 'H' version, mine is and its manual seats, it also has the plug for the electric mirror too behind the interior light fitting.

whats betting you install that too!!!!

you will also need the loom for the seats, if you can take the seats out yourself and it will make installation all the more easy!!

Ive tried to install the mirror but i got the wrong one from the scrappie! was out of a vogue, and had a different fitting. shame really, as was a bargin for £15! Im trying to get my friend to swap his with mine before he sells his HSE!

Ill have a look for the H on my becm shortly, once ive emptied the spare tyre well of water... any idea why this happens? its only when i take it through a shallow river but i cant work out where it comes from!

I will try and get the loom for the seats too when i find a decent set of seats, if not i feel another expensive part from the dealers!

if your stuck for the loom that joins the seats i have one,its not as easy as swapping becms, you have to have the hi line becm re mapped to your car, sounds drastic but is straight forward with the correct software.i know a place in the midlands that will do it.

if your going through rivers then i would suspect the wheel arches could be letting water in, unless yr going through up to the back door threashold then i would stick to roads!!!!

Good news... I have the little H on my BECM, so im guessing im all good to go.
Unfortunately the perfect seats got away on ebay recently so im still looking for a set of electric seats in cream leather if anyone knows?!

As for the water, i took a gallon and a half out of the spare wheel well. Then took her shallow wading again, but no water came in. Im just going to keep an eye after everything which involves water, to see if i can figure it out! Going to wash it today!

Seats are in now, and working fine. Memory works, and the mirrors also dip when its put into reverse. Had to swap the loom, but it wasnt difficult.

It all went well and works fine so i'm happy. Thank you to everyone who helped

No, i didnt actually. I looked into it by using a very bright spotlight and moving it all around underneath, looking for light in the spare tyre well, and the other way round, but i couldn't find anywhere obvious it would be coming in.

Its stayed dry recently though. The rivers arent deep enough do come up to the back door threshold. How could it come in from the wheel arches, into the boot?

i was assuming there could be a hole in there somewhere. there is only so many places that water can get in!

one thing i noticed on mine is the rear tailgate rubber pops off from time to tim. could it be that or the running into the hole that the lights go into?

try checking the seal on the rear lights!
