Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1999 Discovery 2, hoping to get it fixed up and put back on the road. I am currently stuck when it comes to the electric seat movement. When I started with the Discovery none of the electric controls worked. I took the switch apart, give it a good clean, rebuilt it and nearly all movements worked. On both seats the forward and backward movement doesn't work. When the switch is activated, the motor tries to turn then cuts off. Does anyone know what the problem would be. The seat is too far forward at the moment for me to drive it.
Thanks
Steven.

Thanks Discool. Hopefully that will be all that's required.
They are a very simple brushless motor, very similar principle to the ones fitted to the sunroofs or window, similarly not used very often, if anything breaks it’s usually the mechanism.
So as you motor is trying to turn proves there’s power to it, i suppose the seat drive mechanism is jammed in any way?

Thanks for the advice, the next time I'm working at it I will try the runners to see if they are stuck. I have to replace the oil cooler first and every nut and bolt is seized and this is me only trying to get to the oil cooler. Oh the things we decide to do in life. Thanks again.

Untill you fix it for good try to help the seat by pushing it while you activate the motor maybe you can at least put it in the right place for you
