Hi All, Can anybody give me a link or tell me how I can get an Electric Library manual for a 2010 discovery 4 3.0 TDV6. I have a broken wire from Water in fuel sensor to EMC and would like to know the route it takes and connectors involved. Any help would be appreciated.

Contact Gary aka @gstuart on here.
If no go, google topix and I think you can subscribe for the day, and downloads as much info as you want?

hi

will look through the folders I have

is the wire broken at the actual fuel filter and do u have a water in fuel warning light plse

dependent what wires and where they’re broke , as sometimes u have to replace the entire fuel filter which includes the sensor or part of it

hope that helps and will be able to assist more once we know a few more details

Hi again Gary, It looks like you and Lynall are the only two who talk to me. Thanks to the two of you for responding. I have a restricted performance message after 5 starts of the car . The code is P2264 as read by icarsoft i930. Data live streaming shows it is present all the time. Have changed fuel filter and sensor and that is why I suspect I have a broken or HR wire. I want to test continuity of the wires from the sensor to the ECM.

You will find there are not to many D3/4 owners on LZ as D3 are just starting to come into enthusiasts hands in small numbers, and D4 will be some way behind.
To be honest most are only buying them as their current D1/2 has rotted away, and they have little other choice of motors.

I look at what people know about D2 models now compared to 10 years ago when little was known and the difference is amazing, D3/4 will be the same as people work out all the cheap fixes.

I work on lots of trucks, and all have water in fuel sensors, and tbh I have not seen a broken wire yet (some run in terrible places, twisted etc) , that of course does not rule it out, just it will be a super rare defect.

The D3/4 forum is a good place for more current vehicles, worth joining and using the search function.

lol, ur always so welcome mate

so I’ve seen this before, reminded me after seeing that code , u can actually just buy the sensor

https://www.jgs4x4.co.uk/land-rover-discovery-3-4-fuel-filter-housing-water-sensor-repair-kit/

however , I spoke to someone else about this , will look for that post again as it had some useful info in it

plus I’ll see if I can find the ECM pin info for u, in order u can use a multimeter

leave it with me and will post as much as I can as soon as I find it for u mate

Finally found the water in fuel sensor wiring, inc the ecm pin details for u

Plse let us know how u get on , if u haven’t already it’s normally the sensor as per link that normally fails alas as always never good to assume, lol

Hope that helps

Plus almost forgot , there is a small piece of wire in top of the filter housing , I’m pretty sure this is a temperature probe, so in winter it sends heat from the heater / FBH, via the fuel matrix , to prevent the fuel from waxing , think that’s what it was for

also trying to remember if the D4 fuel filter housing is the same as the D3s after 2007

ie like the pic

Ah yes , ref useless facts, lol

Later D3 Fuel Filter
Incorporated in the fuel filter housing is a bimetallic temperature valve, which will start to close at 30°C (86°F) and will fully close at 50°C (122°F). This allows pre-heated diesel fuel to circulate inside the fuel filter to prevent waxing incold operating conditions.

Hi Gary / Lynall, Thanks for the Info. I have done a continuity test on all relevant wires and all are ok. Instead of struggling to remove the filter housing to prove if the sensor is at fault I left the old one in place filled the new one with diesel and connected the electrics to the new one and left it sitting on the floor. I then started the car and checked live streaming whether I had water in fuel still present. The icarsoft 90 indicated that I still had water in fuel present. Can you see any flaw in my thinking? Another thing that might be the problem the counter that records the number of occurrences of water in fuel is 3 and I cannot reset it but can reset the DTC code..
