well you know i meant correctly. its wired INTO the switch correctly :D

then, the little bulb that lights the 12v fag. you know the one? i used that spade terminal to attach a piggy and split the wires from there. is that wrong?

I wouldnt - light cables are very low current. coz lite bulbs dont take much wattage. Try taking the power from a more substantial source - even if only temporary (and dont forget a fooz)

I said earlier :D clipped the croc clips off and replaced with ring terminals with an inline fuse. so they are hard wired onto the 2nd batt. then i removed the original switch and extended the wires upto the dash into my new switch.

sorry Griff - having difficulty imagining the set-up
sounds like the switch wiring is faulty - you can only have power/switched power/lamp earth contacts on it. If you have wired it up correctly, then it can only be that the system cannot draw enough current throuh it and you are getting a voltage drop, so that the compressor doesnt work. but the light should not be on all the time - so that implies incorrect wiring.

i never said that  the compressor works fine. im just moaning about the light that stays illuminated ;) the switch has power in, power out. sidelight connection and earth (4 terminals) power in and out are fine (compressor works) but the sidelight connection stays on constantly. with sidelights on, sidelights off and keys out of ignition. i think some trial and error tonight may sort it out or as you have all ready said, faulty switch.
