when i got me fob reprogrammed today the lock smith told me his box of tricks stated my eka as being 0000? wtf could it be he reset it to that inadvertantly or was he mistaken?

There's no way to set the EKA if the numbers are zeroes, the minimum number has to be 1.

So, he is either mistaken, or he has wiped the memory which means that you're in trouble if you need to use the EKA.

Suggest you get it checked at a dealer.

What did he charge you for the reprogramming, and did you have the replacement fob bar code label with you when he did it?

i know about the eka having to be numbers thats why i posted so its sounds like its already been set to 0000 which is strange cos i wouldnt have thort it was possible i dont think for a minute he set it to 0000 cos he said he would retrieve the eka code then programme the fobs but who knows? i bort a secondhand fob for a backup, he charged £15 for programming (stealer wanted £57)cos he prolly pays £1000's per year for the software etc, who does it for free?

Strange, as the EKA code is etched into the EPROM of alarm ECU. Access to the alarm ECU is not required for the fob programming function and the fob is not required to be present when entering the EKA code.

Sounds like the fob holds information other then the 'handshake' data for it to function only with your alarm ECU.

Just in case my post is misinterpreted, the only thing you can enter on the key in the door lock is one or higher, there is no method for entering a zero, and only six letter codes are used for the numbers higher than 10.

Ours was 39 key movements to enter, gave us wrist ache after a few times!
