Returned to the world of Land Rover after a three year break with a series 2 td 5. Read lots about the benefits of fitting the EGR blanking plates (usually written by the manufacturers) so question is, are there bad points and any recommendations as to the best kit ?

egrs came from america originally to clean exhaust nox ,by reburning under certain conditions but it tends to clog intake and reduce boost helping to nullify its effect ,any thing that blanks the out let from exhaust will do

The EGR valve system is a very poor quick fix for meeting the manufacturer pollution regs - and it's rubbish.
On TD5's there really is only one way to do it properly and that is to blank of the exhaust manifold and remove the EGR valve. You'll need a kit like this:
EGR Blanking Kit - all TD5
and about 1 hour to do the job. In addition it's a good idea to flush out the intercooler but it's a bigger job on TD5 than on TDi's so you might decide to leave that part.
