Hi All,

I've got the problem experienced by some other users here - orange engine light coming in at about 3000 revs/70 mph, power loss until revs drop below 2500 revs.

Had it in and out of the garage several times. They've taken the turbo off, cleaned it up, and claim it works fine.

I took the vacuum pipe off today and plugged it, to no avail. I suppose my question is does this prove that the EGR is not at fault, or should i still take it off and clean it (and if so, does anyone know how tight it needs to be reattached?)

I've looked at other threads; apologies if i've missed the answer.

James.

Loss of power after sustained load/high speed recovered by reducing revs/load sounds a bit like fuel starvation!:frown:

Agree with above but would also question why was the turbo removed for cleaning. Has the boost control solenoid been changed??

I suspect the reason was that the mechanic didnt know what else to do. Land Rover (non official dealer) just said "new turbo" and asked for a fortune. I told them not to start with the turbo, but to check everything else. They took the turbo off, cleaned it and said it was ok.

Didn't do anything with the fuel filter
changed the crank case breather
didn't change or test any solenoids.

Sent me home saying all fixed. Same problem persisted. A week later, loads of black smoke, AA came out and said it was a split hose, which had been split for a while as dried gunk all over front of engine.

So i guess its maybe a fuel filter replacement and boost solenoid as next steps?
