after my disasterous last week one of the things i i did while trying to start the car was pull off the EGr sensor cover off. (dont ask) and the gasket underit fell in to to 2 pieces, what i want to know is do i need to bother replacing it or timing it up again as the egr is blanked anyway :)

Sorry for my naivety but what do you mean by EGR sensor(it doesn't come in sight on components layout).......if you meant the EGR valve then don't bother too much with it......it might just suck some air there

it is the throttle position sensor for the egr valve :) it is part of the fuel injection pump (I think)

In this case you better fix it but this one doesn't have to do much with a blanked EGR:

Throttle position sensor
If the engine management ECM detects a throttle position sensor failure, it may indicate a blocked or restricted air
intake filter. Failure symptoms may include:
l Poor engine running and throttle response
l Emission control failure
l No closed loop idle speed control
l Altitude adaption is incorrect

I think your's is a V8 in this case isn't it
