EGR pipe...miracle needed.How do I remove it?

Is it possible to remove the egr pipe (see photo of one that has been removed, sadly not mine!!) from the exhaust manifold without having to remove all the plastic air filter housing, Inlet manifold etc. Thought of dismantling all this fills me with dread!
Mine is damaged, someone cut the end off it so the standard blanking kit won't fit on it.
If not has anybody had success with blanking one with a metal disc as the wide part at the end of the pipe which normally butts up to your blanking bypass doohickey is missing from me project hippo.

I can see this thing being broken for spares shortly. Last resort .....

It would be very hard to remove easily with out removing the air filter cover and it's box from the top, as the air box is part of the cam cover, and to remove that the injectors have to be removed as well, having said that it may be possible just about to remove it but it would be a struggle, I am almost certain you can remove it from under the car but you may have to lower the exhaust pipe also, don't quote me on it though, today I had to remove some item from a R40 so took the opportunity to take some photo of what you are up against trying to remove it from the top pics below, hopefully they may help with a plan to tackle it ?

I am again almost sure you can purchase just the concertina part of the pipe and have it welded or soldered back into position, remove or peel back the heat guard sock and take a look if you have one in situ Arctic.

There must be a way to seal it without stripping the whole engine down. How about some using plumbing parts and ingenuity effect a repair?

I don't think I can face stripping everything down to get the pipe off.
Will have a go at cutting a disc to plug the end and try securing with a jubilee clip or
Something similar.

would a blank styled cup from something like an exhaust work

cutting some slits into the metal cup, using some gum gum along with a jubilee clip to clamp down on it

can't remember what size the pipe is and what pressure is there

wonder if a small tin can would be of any use ????

cut and fashioned in a way to at least blank if off without having to strip everything off ?

it's just a case of finding something to cap the smaller 50mm end off

would a brass blanking nut from a plumbing fitting be any good

if u measure the pipe that u have left that's been cut and also the other end

wonder if a step down exhaust coupling may work , along with cutting slots so that with a jubilee clip round it the slits will allow it to clamp down tight

Luckily I have another hippo that is in good condition. This td4 was going to be a project but I am finding
Too many things wrong with it so it is going to be broken for spares.
